Is More Better?
"He Gets Us" is back.
Bad Bunny’s concert (and the Seahawks football win) took up most of the national conversation last night, but the commercials offered social commentary worth watching. (Ok, some of them did.) And He Gets Us was back with a new kicker of an ad.
Is more better? The commercial asks us to grapple with our motivations in life, particularly those that lead us to accumulate stuff.
The desire for “more” is universal and ancient, personal and collective. “More” is our attempt to ascribe meaning to our lives—a meaning that Jesus alone can satisfy. This is what the team at He Gets Us addresses in the Superbowl commercial, “More,” which contrasts the societal pressure to attain more—more things, more attention, more followers, more money, more beauty—and what Jesus says about finding the life we’re actually looking for.
Thankfully, the ad is just the tip of the spear. If it piqued your interest or you wish to share it with a friend, follow up by visiting their newly designed website, which offers multiple resources for digging deeper. They’ve included articles that spark curiosity, safe spaces to ask deep questions in small groups, like Alpha, and opportunities to explore God’s Word with our friends at the Bible Project.
In a post-Christian world, ads like “More” meet hurting, curious, and lost people where they are without requiring they know a lot. No church membership required. No doctrinal statements sought. Just questions.
Come as you are. The He Gets Us community is a safe place with friends available to walk the road of doubt and faith with you.
